Aged-Out Scottie Junior

Hi! I keep meaning to post to introduce myself, so here we go... my name is Allie Broome. I'm too old to show in Juniors now, but for the last two and a half years of my Juniors career, I always had a Scottie in the Juniors ring. I was the #1 Scottie Junior in 2008, and won the Chyscott Memorial Junior Showmanship award for this accomplishment.
I'm a first generation to dog showing in my family, meaning that I had to rely on my wonderful friends and mentors to teach me everything I now know about showing dogs. When I met Marianne Melucci and Axel (Ch Fireheart's Guns N' Roses CGC) at my first all-breed show, I never would have dreamed that six years later Marianne would give me the opportunity to handle Axel in the Juniors ring. I also have a Scottie of my own, Rosecrofts Angels Command "Sara," with whom I have shared quite a bit of Juniors success.
Now that I've aged out of Juniors, Sara is happily living as a scuffy little couch potato.... watching sports with my dad, chasing squirrels, and continuing to be my guinea pig as I practice and improve my grooming skills. Although college has prevented me from doing much showing, Marianne gave me the opportunity of a lifetime in letting me handle the beautiful Shelley (Ch Fireheart's Bombshell) in the breed ring. Together, Shelley and I earned around 10 points including a major towards her championship as well as a Group 1 and Group 3 from the classes, and Marianne got her final major to finish her shortly thereafter.
Scotties aren't always the easiest breed to handle in the Juniors ring, and I would love to be able to help out any Juniors who are looking for tips on handling a Scottie, standing out in the ring, etc. If it weren't for the people who were willing to answer the millions of questions I've had along the way, I wouldn't be where I am today, so feel free to e-mail me with any questions you might have!Sunday, February 15, 2009

Michael Thomas....in The Bagpiper!!
I received my copy of "The Bagpiper" a few weeks ago and I was in it!!! I was interviewed a few months ago by a member of the STCA about me showing a Scottie in juniors and I told her of my experiences and what I like to do. Well, I was so excited to be in this issue! It was so exciting. I have been a member of the STCA for about a year now.
